Common Questions

The Savior of the World production is a dramatic musical celebration of the Savior Jesus Christ which portrays His birth (Act I) and resurrection (Act II). It is not a typical passion play because it purposely omits the events of the trial, suffering, and crucifixion and instead focuses on the first-person experiences of both real and fictional characters who experience the miracles of Jesus Christ’s birth and resurrection. The performance also includes angelic and prophetic testimony of the Savior taken directly from, and portrayed by, scriptural prophets from the Holy Bible and The Book of Mormon.

The Savior of the World can be performed as a two-act production or as a single-act musical depending on the needs and circumstances of the production; Act I is especially relevant to celebrate the Christmas season and Act II the Easter season.

The Savior of the World: His Birth and Resurrection was originally produced and performed in the Conference Center Theater during the Christmas season in 2000.

The Savior of the World can be produced and performed under the direction of local Church leaders for the benefit of members of the Church or the community.

Musicals and other productions in Church settings are organized under the direction of priesthood leaders who hold the necessary priesthood keys. They ensure that all activities, including musical productions, are conducted in an orderly manner and align with Church standards (General Handbook 3.4.1).

The full production is typically a two-hour presentation.

  • Act I: Savior of the World — His Birth; Length: ~ 65 minutes
  • Act II: Savior of the World — His Resurrection; Length: ~ 45 minutes
