Frequently Asked Questions for U.S. and Canadian Residents

What if missionaries are planning an international trip before entering the missionary training center?

Because Missionary Travel does not collect missionaries' actual passports, this will be fine. Missionaries should be sure to keep their passport safe and bring it with them to the missionary training center.

Will missionaries be delayed if they did not turn their visa documents on time?

The visa processing time is at least 3 months. To ensure enough time, missionaries should turn in their documents by the date listed on their visa requirements instruction sheet. If there will be a delay with a missionary's visa, the missionary will be notified by his/her priesthood leader.

What if a missionary's bank will not write the type of letter requested on the instruction sheet?

If the bank will not write a financial guarantee letter, missionaries should contact their bishop and have him write a letter on ward letterhead. In either case, missionaries should follow the sample letter that was sent to them with their visa instructions.

My signature does not match the name printed on my passport. Is that a problem?

If you did not sign your full name on the passport, all our visa documents must be signed the way you signed your passport.

Can I make corrections to my visa forms if the information already filled in is not correct?

You may use whit-out tape (not liquid) to make needed changes. Do not scribble or cross things out.

Do I have a personal identity number?

No. Just leave that question blank.
