Yes. Missionaries will now need to make a personal appearance at a French consulate in order to obtain their visa for France. Missionary Travel will arrange your personal appearance at the consulate.

What if missionaries already speak their mission language?

Missionaries' language skills will be tested by someone from the missionary training center. If missionaries are found to be language advanced, they will be notified of any changes by their priesthood leaders.

My signature does not match the name printed on my passport. Is that a problem?

If you did not sign your full name on the passport, then all your visa documents must be signed the way you signed your name on your passport.

Can I make corrections to my visa forms if the information already filled in is not correct?

If corrections need to be made, you will need to use white-out tape (not liquid). Do not scribble or cross things out.

How do I attach my photo to the application?

Paper clip one photo to your visa application. Do not staple or glue the photo to the application.

Can I send in just a photocopy/notarized photocopy of my birth certificate to Missionary Travel?

No. You will need to send in a certified copy of your birth certificate. Birth certificates will be returned to the missionary sometime before the end of their mission.

What should missionaries do if their mission says they need to send photos and a certified birth certificate to the mission office, but they have already sent them to Missionary Travel?

If Missionary Travel already has these items, missionaries do not need to send them to the mission. It is acceptable to send these to Missionary Travel because the mission office will eventually get them.

Paris Missionaries Only: The instructions say to apply for the police clearance letter no earlier than 1 month before the deadline date on the instruction sheet. Do missionaries really have to wait until then to apply for the police clearance letter?

Yes, the police clearance letter should be dated as close to a missionary's missionary training center date as possible.

Lyon Missionaries Only: What should missionaries do if they are having trouble finding a place that will take their photos with a light-colored background?

Missionaries can have a white background as long as their face stands out. If their face blends into the background or the flash is too bright, the photos will not be accepted. Missionaries should make sure to measure the dimensions exactly.

What if missionaries are planning an international trip before entering the missionary training center?

Missionaries should not plan/schedule a trip prior to entering the missionary training center. Their passport will need to be sent in with the other requested visa documents.
