Frequently Asked Questions for U.S. and Canadian Residents

Is it okay if missionaries did not sign their middle name on their passport?

Yes. If missionaries failed to sign their full name on their passport they should make sure to sign all their visa paperwork the same way they did on their passport.

What if missionaries are planning an international trip before entering the missionary training center?

Missionaries can keep their passport for their trip and then once they return, they can mail their passport and visa documents to Missionary Travel. A missionary’s passport and visa application must be received by the Missionary Travel Office 2 weeks prior to their Missionary Training Center report date.

Do missionaries have to make a personal appearance at a consulate?

Yes. However, this is done after they enter the missionary training center. The Missionary Travel Office will let missionaries know when they go and will give them further instructions.

What if missionaries already speak their mission language?

Missionaries' language skills will be tested by someone from the missionary training center. If missionaries are found to be language advanced, their missionary training center or travel date to the mission will change. Missionaries will receive further word from their priesthood leaders.

How do I attach my photo to the application?

Do not attach your photo to the application. Just send it in.

When do I complete the online application?

Two weeks prior to entering the Missionary Training Center. Complete the application by following the instructions that were sent to you in your visa packet.
