Frequently Asked Questions for U.S. and Canadian Residents

How do missionaries complete the visa application?

Missionaries should complete only the requested items as instructed. All other items are to be left blank.

Can I make corrections to my visa application forms if the information already filled in is not correct?

You may use white-out tape (not liquid) to make needed changes. Do not scribble or cross things out.

How do missionaries complete the parts of the visa application that there are no instructions for?

Missionaries MUST NOT complete anything on their visa application that they are not specifically instructed to complete.

If missionaries have some of their visa documents, can they mail some now and mail the rest later?

No, missionaries should send all of the documents at the same time.

If missionaries didn’t turn in their visa documents on time, will they be delayed?

Missionary Travel must receive all documents at least 30 days before missionaries enter the missionary training center. If Missionary Travel receives the documents after that time, missionaries may be delayed.

My signature does not match the name printed on my passport. Is that a problem?

No. If you did not sign your full name on your passport, all your visa documents must be signed the way you signed your passport.

Can missionaries keep their passport for a personal vacation?

Yes, but they must send it in to Missionary Travel at least 30 days before they enter the missionary training center.

How do I attach my photos to the visa applications and questionnaire for volunteers?

Use a glue stick to attach your photo. Tape or staples are not acceptable.
