Dear Prospective Missionaries and Parents,
From its beginning, the Chile Missionary Training Center has had the privilege and the great blessing of receiving new missionaries who bring their love and desire to learn. These new missionaries are willing, excited, and enthusiastic. With each day of training, they gain greater confidence and their words become more powerful, sincere, and full of testimony.
From the time they arrive, missionaries learn to be obedient, to work in companionships, and to take care of and support each other. This adjustment to MTC life and to their companions is a learning opportunity that has a positive impact both on their service in the field and in their personal life.
While at the MTC, missionaries have the opportunity to attend the temple, which strengthens their commitment to keep their covenants and their determination to be obedient and faithful. Their time in the MTC allows them to form bonds of friendship that help them support one another in their efforts to follow the example of the Savior.
Missionaries learn from excellent teachers who contribute to an ideal environment in which missionaries can develop their teaching abilities and learn to listen to and follow the Holy Ghost. The Preach My Gospel manual is the foundation for the instruction given to the missionaries. The training program at the MTC focuses on eight fundamental principles described in Preach My Gospel and helps missionaries understand how to guide people to conversion.
Our objective is defined on page 1 of Preach My Gospel and summarizes our charted course: “Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.” We work intensely with Preach My Gospel and focus on establishing the Church.
We look forward to meeting you when you arrive at the Chile MTC. We know that your service in this great work is a means through which much good will be done among the children of our Heavenly Father. May God bless you with faith as you prepare. Trust that all will be well. We are all in His hands.
