First Steps to follow in preparation to meet the Savior:
Accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior.
This is a very personal experience between you and God in prayer. Decide if you believe in Jesus Christ and if you are willing to live your life for Him. When you are ready, select a special time and place to have this important prayer experience during which you tell God that you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and promise that you will live your life in His service.
Cleanse your soul in preparation to receive further “light and knowledge”.
Make a list of the things that are wrong in the way you are living your life and make the decision to change them.
Become a disciple of Jesus Christ. “By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.” Make the decision to love your fellow men, and then change the way you treat each person in your life.
Learn the basic truths.
Through study and prayer, ask God to reveal to you if Joseph Smith is a true messenger, and if the Book of Mormon is scripture. Pray often, more than once every day. Read and study the Book of Mormon. Ask God specifically to reveal to you whether or not it is true. Be willing to accept whatever truth is revealed. After each prayer, pause to listen for an answer. Do not accept “maybe”. Unless you know how to recognize a true messenger through the power of the Holy Ghost, there is little that you can do to prepare to meet your Savior. If you are not certain that your prayer has been answered, then it has not been answered. When the Holy Ghost reveals truth, you “know” -- nothing wavering.
