Riding a Bicycle
Gospel Living

Moving forward is important.

Whether you’re talking about cycling or spirituality.

What happens when you stop pedaling on your bicycle? You eventually fall over! That’s because you need both balance and momentum to be successful. In a similar way, we need both faith and good works in order to spiritually move forward.

And all of it is made possible through the grace of Jesus Christ. He gave you the bicycle in the first place! He is right next to you, showing you how to ride, even holding the seat while you hop on.

Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf once recently shared similar thoughts about bicycles to encourage us to keep moving forward with faith.

“Keep your eyes on the road in front of you. Focus on your destination,” he said. “And get pedaling. Staying balanced is all about moving forward.”1

Next time you ride a bicycle, think about how faith, works, and grace all go together. Moving forward sure feels good, doesn’t it?!

Faith, Works, and Grace

What can you do to increase your faith this week? What good works can you do? The good news about grace is that the Savior already offers it to you!
